Desiree St. Duran's interest in writing fiction dates back to her earlier years before she could even read. She dictated stories to her mother, who wrote them in Hello Kitty journals. Desiree's enthusiasm for fiction continued through high school, when she wrote a fantasy novel for her high school senior project.

Now, Desiree has a strong interest in weaving traditional fantasy with surrealism and literary fiction. She is also an avid fan of fantasy middle-grade and young adult novels. Check out this list of her favorite books.

Desiree is from Sacramento, CA and resides in Moscow, PA, a small town just outside of Scranton, PA. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English with emphasis in Writing from Shippensburg University. Desiree also interned as an Associate Editor for Write the Ship and worked on the fiction staff of The Reflector.

Desiree spends much of her free time reading novels of all kinds, magazines on writing, and online comics. She also loves watching action movies, cuddling with her miniature poodle named Rune, listening to movie soundtracks, going to punk rock festivals, drawing, Wii Fit, her iPhone, tarot cards, purses and shoes, Jeeps, her family and friends, Frank Frazetta paintings, dragons, tigers, horses, vanilla lattes, bookstores, Buddhism, and writing workshops.
